Aspiring Councillors Meet the Community

As a community service, the Avoca Beach Community Association held a "Meet the Candidates" forum on Monday 26th August, at Avoca Beach Surf Club.

Seven brave candidates faced an audience of over 100 locals and did their best to impress. Candidates were all asked three questions by the moderator, and each given three minutes to answer each question in turn. This was followed by an open forum with questions from the floor.

The candidates: (l to r) Rosemary de Lambert (independent), Jarrod Wright (Liberal) Clive Lawton (Independent),Sharon Walsh (Labor),  Sharon Andrews (Independent), David Kings (Independent), and Pat Farmer representing the team headed by former mayor Lawrie McKinnon

Judging by the comments afterward, members of the audience seemed very happy with the evening's proceedings, with many saying they learnt a lot and the night helped considerably in their decision making. Interestingly, more than a few said, "Now I know who NOT to vote for!"

2024 NSW Local Government Elections are on Saturday 14 September.
