Talia Tebb - Progress Report

We last spoke of Talia just over a year ago when she was ranked no. 1 surfer in the country for her age – 12 years old then. Talia’s has kept up her outstanding form in the highly competitive surfing world and here we give a progress report on this talented young sportsperson.

Latest results:

In April, Talia came first in the Rip Curl “Gromsearch” Oz Cup at Diggers Beach, Coffs Harbour. In May first again in the Youth Slash N Bash’ at Newcastle’s Frenchman’s Beach. (Where do they get the names from?) Recently Talia had a big boost to her career and morale when offered her first sponsorship from the prestigious Rip Curl brand. About this she says: “I’m super stoked to be joining the Rip Curl team with so many inspiring pros. I’ve been trying to progress my surfing lately by surfing most mornings and arvos”.

Of course, Talia is still young and has a long way to go to realise her dreams. In this respect she remains grounded and positive: “Learning new manoeuvres is so much fun because there’s always something new to progress and I’ve been trying to push for bigger turns and different manoeuvres, which also means lots of falling off because that’s what you have to do to get better!”

Upcoming events for Talia and friends:

In June it’s the Urbn surf Homebush Heavyweight Rumble – she is part of the Avoca Boardriders Club (ABC) Team surfing at the new ‘Urbn Surf’ wave pool in Sydney. Then there’s a busy winter with 3 weeks up the coast in back-to-back comps:.

These include

The Billabong Occy comp at Snapper Rocks, QLD, ‘Skullcandy’ at Lennox head, NSW, and the NSW State Titles junior surf series at Coffs Harbour.

Talia’s hoping that good results from these events will give her the opportunity to compete in the 2024 Australian Junior Surfing Titles to be held on the NSW South Coast on late November. We wish her the best of luck.
